LEARN AT
YOUR LEVEL
Tips and resources to help you learn
Learning something new, no matter what it is, is challenging. But when it comes to learning a language, I believe:
“If you don’t understand it, it’s not your fault”

In other words, if you don’t understand it, then the “input” is not at the right level for you. Remember, for comprehensible input, you need to understand 70 – 90 % of the material (see Teaching Method).

I have created materials for different levels of learning, and the guide below will help you to navigate these materials.

BEGINNER
"Sawubona! Unjani?"
TIPS
-
Put a high priority on reading and listening to lots of "input" in simple isiZulu (children's books are great)
-
Put a lower priority on grammar at this stage - grammar will come intuitively as you learn
-
Practice making the unique sounds of isiZulu (like the clicks)
-
If you don't understand at least 70% of the content, its too difficult - try something easier
-
Relax and have fun!
